As a mechanical engineer by training, my career has spanned various industries—from appliance repair to plastics and steel manufacturing, drug delivery devices, surgical tools, and defense systems. Now, I focus on product design for HVAC and industrial goods.

R&D Mechanical Engineer II

  • Contract Biomedical R&D Mechanical engineering position in a fast paced environment like a startup
  • Proved out alternative pump mechanism which eventually became the main pump mechanism for an Insulin Delivery Device (IDD)
  • Developed a custom gear train by calculating gear train reduction, prototyping parts, performing FEA, updating for efficiency, and integrating the system into the IDD
  • Developed/Collaborated in the development of 15 fixtures for Incoming inspection, Quality, R&D Verification, Operations, and Manufacturing
  • Worked with Arduino and other microcontrollers to develop fixturing
  • Helped design subsystems for PCBa embedded systems
  • Wrote 5 MATLAB scripts that are implemented on a regular basis by multiple engineers
  • Used RSS and 4σ in tolerance stacks to inform key design and manufacturing decisions for a device that will be produced in the order of 5 million per year
  • Conducted independent research, contacted manufacturers, and wrote formal proposal for a necessary redesign to a safety electromechanical sensor subsystem
  • Generated a patented metal injection molded multipole magnet with alternating polarity for magnetic encoding which increased resolution by 20% while decreasing cost by 1666%
  • Learned metal injection molding (MIM) properties and Magnetization principles from scratch
  • Worked with/led interdisciplinary teams of Quality, Manufacturing, Operations, Molding, and Systems engineering

  • Used Excel with Crystal ball to conduct tolerance stacks for parts with up to 12 interactions
  • Used SOLIDWORKS and PDM to design, draft and do FEA on all projects
